Tesla is under pressure as they are now forced to disable the “rolling stop” feature within the Full Self-Driving Beta service. This order comes straight from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall. Tesla was not made aware of any particular incidents made by the feature while the update can be released in early February. As a result, the features have Teslas equipped with the FSD Beta in an effort to travel from a four-way-stop intersection at up to 5.6 miles per hour before coming to a complete stop.

Tesla has no choice!

Tesla had to recall 53,822 vehicles while issuing over-the-air software updates. This would disable the feature that they call “rolling stop.” found within the Full Self-Driving Beta Software.

Within this recall, so many models are affected, including the Model S, X, 3, and also the Y. This is all complete with the latest Full Self-Driving Beta running firmware.

Rolling Stop is supposed to allow the vehicle to go through the four-way-stop intersection up to 5.6 miles per hour. The NHTSA says that “entering an all-way-stop intersection without coming to a complete stop may increase the risk of collision.”

The conditions to be met also include that “no relevant moving cars are detected near the intersection, no relevant pedestrians or bicyclists and sufficient visibility for the vehicle while approaching the intersection.”

Luckily, the NHTSA will be able to get Tesla to whip themselves into high gear.

Once such conditions are met, the vehicle will be able to drive through the intersection between 0.1 mph to 5.6 mph.
